AquaBliss FAQ

Answers to the questions buyers ask before checkout, based on daily use of every AquaBliss housing and a cartridge-replacement log going back two years.

How often do I replace the AquaBliss cartridge?

Every 6 months for a typical 2-person household. Hard water, long showers or more than 3 people in one bathroom shorten that to 3-4 months. The cartridge media darkens visibly as it ages, so you have a built-in cue. Adding the SFPADS pre-filter pad in front of the housing extends cartridge life by roughly 30-50% on sediment-heavy water.

Does the AquaBliss filter reduce my water pressure?

Mildly. The first 24 hours after install have the most noticeable drop because the cartridge media is not yet fully wetted. After that, the SF500 high-output housing has the smallest pressure drop in the lineup, the SF100 the largest. Most standard household shower heads do not feel functionally weaker once the cartridge is broken in.

Will the AquaBliss housing fit my shower arm?

Yes for any standard US shower arm with a 1/2-inch NPT thread. The housing screws between the shower arm and your shower head. It also fits handheld and rainfall heads. For a square or fixed-flow ceiling rain head you may want the SF220 or SF500 because their inlet is angled, which helps clear the ceiling shroud.

What is the difference between SF100, SF220, SF400 and SF500?

SF100 is the original 12-stage housing, the most compact and the lowest price. SF220 is the same media in a slightly larger body with better flow. SF400 adds Vitamin C to the cartridge stack, which targets chloramine more aggressively. SF500 is the high-output housing with the lowest pressure drop and the longest cartridge life, aimed at heavy users and larger households.

Is the AquaBliss filter NSF certified?

AquaBliss publishes lab test results for chlorine reduction but is not on the NSF/ANSI 177 certified-product list at the time of writing. If NSF certification is a requirement for you, the better options in this price range are different brands. If you want lab-verified chlorine reduction without a paid NSF stamp, the AquaBliss results are credible for the price.

Can I install AquaBliss myself?

Yes. Total install time is about 5 minutes. Unscrew the shower head from the arm, wrap PTFE tape on both threads of the AquaBliss housing, screw the housing onto the arm, screw the shower head back onto the housing. No tools beyond your hand and tape. The included rubber washer goes inside the head connection.

Why is my water cloudy or off-color for the first few minutes?

Normal for a brand-new cartridge. The media releases a small amount of carbon dust on first use. Run the shower on cold for 30-60 seconds and the water clears. If cloudiness persists after a week, the cartridge seal is likely loose. Re-thread it.

Does it work for hard water and limescale?

Partially. The AquaBliss cartridge reduces chlorine and some heavy metals but does not soften water in the chemical sense (it does not remove calcium and magnesium ions). You will see less scale build-up on the shower head because of the cleaner upstream flow, but a true water softener is still required for whole-house hardness.

Will it remove chloramine?

Partially. Chloramine is harder to reduce than free chlorine. The SF400 with Vitamin C performs best against chloramine in our testing. The SF100/SF220 reduce free chlorine well but leave more chloramine through. If your municipality switched to chloramine, pick SF400 or SF500.
